Counselor-Mission Statement

For the AREA-WIDE CRUSADE
May 2 thru May 15
Day Service 9:30 A.M. and Evening Service 7:00
Wilson Park, Union County

The Counselors for the AREA-WIDE Crusade are committed to these founding principles in the efforts to provide SPIRITUAL assistance to the respondents during the ALTAR SERVICE. To pray with and for the candidates during this crucial time of decision making as the drawing power of GOD is calling upon their hearts.

1.      As a Counselor I will receive each respondent with all the gentleness and love that JESUS CHRIST has shown to me. I will give my full, undivided attention to the respondent and to listen first to their acknowledging needs.

JEREMIAH 32:18 &19 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompenest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is his name. Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

 2.    As a Counselor I will provide the proper counsel to the respondent, led of the HOLY SPIRIT, that the respondent would exercise the faith that “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” in believing upon Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

PROVERBS 11:14    Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there Is safety.

3.     As a Counselor I will provide my ear to hear the respondent after his or her prayer unto the Lord for the “Confession is made” to believing in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior of their Soul and Lord of their lives.

PROVERBS 15:22 & 23  Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established. A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

In all of our efforts as a Counselor, to whomsoever comes with a need, I will listen FIRST to the individuals need, listen to the Holy Spirit SECOND to be able to speak with the correct counsel to the individual and to be able to listen THIRD for the confession that is made.

Counselor Orientation
  1. The greatest concern of any counselor is being sure as possible of the need of each individual.
  2. Many who come forward to the altar may want to be saved but do not yet understand what being lost means.
  3. Some have not been in Church. Some may only be curious while others may come with a friend.  Our job is clear.  LISTEN-LISTEN-LISTEN!
  4. Ask questions as to why they responded to the Altar Call.  Example-What is your need?  Do you know that you are lost?  Where would you go if you were to die right now?  Get the facts in order that you can determine the need of the individual.
  5. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to pray with the respondent without making sure of the need.
  6. Once sure of the need to be saved, the counselor will offer to pray with the respondent until they are satisfied they are saved.
  7. It is not the job of the counselor to tell the respondent whether or not they are saved, but to let the person tell you they are or are not satisfied they are saved.
  8. When a profession of faith in Christ, as their personal Savior is received by the counselor, from the respondent, encourage them with the love of Jesus Christ and Christian fellowship.
  9. The first few minutes of response given to a new Christian is very important.
  10. Escort the Christian to a Crusade Usher after filling out the counselor card provided and give the information and new Christian in their proper care.
  11. They will be provided with a Bible including their name and date of profession of faith in Christ.
  12. Seating arrangements-Please set at random throughout the entire audience.
  13. During the invitation, counselors need to begin to move with the pace of the audience so as to be in place to receive the respondents.
  14. Please find your place while spreading across the entire altar.
  15. Nametags will be provided and must be worn for identification by each qualified counselor.
  16. Qualified counselors will be counselors who attend at least one orientation session, have proper I.D. (name tags), and are informed of their duties and responsibilities and have in their possession a counselors handbook.
  17. A SOLEMN AND GREAT CONCERN OF THE CRUSADE TEAM IS THAT NO PERSON BE DECEIVED IN THEIR EXPERIENCE OF GRACE.
