Federal guidelines on religion in public schools issued by the U.S. Department of Education:

  For an explanation of the guidelines, read our press release. Public schools must certify compliance annually with their state department of education. Each state must report noncomplying schools by April 15. Schools that do not comply with the guidelines may lose federal funding. Complaints regarding schools not complying with the federal guidelines should be filed with your state and the U.S. Department of Education.
